Use of the rubbish chute
Residents are requested to put their daily household rubbish, in small bags and dispose of them safely and securely using the chute located on the rear stairwell landings.

The reasoning behind using small bags (shopping bags) is simple, although the cradle for the chute is square, the chute it’s self is round and smaller than the cradle, so putting large objects will block the chute lower down causing a blockage.
Please do not put Large or Heavy objects down the chute.

Recycling – How you can do your bit
Use the local recycling points for your paper, glass, plastic bottles, batteries and cans.

*NEW* We now have our very own recycling point, located in the car park at the bottom of the rubbish chute stair well. Paper, Glass, Plastic bottles, Tins & Cans.

They are Located: at Mabeldon Place & Junction of Flaxman Terrace (opposite the Mable Pub), and also at Junction of Bidborough Street & Tonbridge Street.

Somerton House

Fire Alarm
The fire alarm system is controled and opperated by the Hotel, with alarm’s on our upper floors, floors 6 to 9, Hotel staff test the system every Thursday late morning around 11 am.

If you hear the Fire Alarm ringing consistently, please leave the building using the stairs and assemble outside across the road at the church gates, untill informed by a fire officer or relevant person that it is safe to return to the building.

Lower Ground Floor Car Park.
The 3 parking bays on the lower ground floor at the LG Exit Door are for residents of Somerton House and are for the use of Permit Holders who  rent  these bays,  please be respectful for others when parking.

Parking in the Hotel car park may incur a fine without a ticket.

Laundry Room
The laundry room on is for the use of Residents of Somerton House Only.

Update: 12/04/08: The Laundry room has been closed for repairs.
